Small pamphlet (measuring ca. 4.5" x 2.75"). First (and only) edition. Illustrated with charming small drawings. Calloway wrote this as a sequel to his classic "The New Cab Calloway's Cat-ologue: A Hepster's Dictionary" published to great acclaim a year earlier. The purpose of this book was to serve as a course book testing the reader's knowledge of "jive" terms and the swing music scene in general, with chapters titled: "Are You Hep to Instruments," "Are You Hep to the Tags of the Gates," "Are You Hep to Etiquette," "Are You Hep to the Events in the World of Jive," and more. Cab writes that this book will be distributed to fans before he plays in their cities with the thought that they will fill out, and mail in, the test at the back of the book, and then arrive at the concert to find out if they were the winner of a prize in the "Swingformation Contest." Winners can consider themselves an "interheptual" entitled to "mingle with the intelligamsia." Dampstain to corner of pages, staples a bit rusted (as usual), light wear, very good. Rare.

Price: $2,500.00
