Handmade postcard featuring a self-portrait photograph by Berman.

Larkspur, CA: Wallace Berman, 1960.

Item #SKB-16745

The front of the card features a lovely, soulful close-up self-portrait of Berman's face looking directly into the camera. The photo has intentionally been torn with irregular edges and affixed to the card. The back of the card is stamped and hand-addressed by Berman in bold red crayon to Tiny Meltzer, the wife of one of Berman's closest friends, poet David Meltzer. Small tape shadow on the address side, single pin hole, else about fine (6" x 4"). A very sweet and at the same time intense image of Berman---and an early card from when Berman lived in Larkspur where he turned an abondoned house into Semina, a private gallery where he could exhibit his work and that of his friends.
