NY: Holt, Rinehart and Winston, .
Hardbound in dust jacket. First edition. Superb association copy warmly inscribed by Burroughs to his longtime friend, Allen Ginsberg: "For Allen, With all the Love and memories of William S. Burroughs July 4, 1984 Naropa." At the bottom of the title page that bears the inscription Ginsberg has written "Allen Ginsberg Rc'd 7/4/84." Burroughs' friendship with Ginsberg is legendary, dating back to the early '40s when they met in NYC during the incipient days of the Beat Generation. They shared many experiences over several decades ranging from living in the Beat Hotel during its heyday, to participating in Timothy Leary's drug experiments at Harvard, attending the 1968 Democratic Convention, and teaching at Naropa. They remained very close throughout their lives, and their relationship has been extensively documented in the many books on the Beats. Their correspondence has been published in The Yage Letters and Letters to Allen Ginsberg. Near fine.
