The front of the card features a photo printed in black against a green background of music manager and entrepreneur McLaren in an elaborate spooky outfit. On the back a condom is affixed with the word "Halloweenie" printed above. This event was to celebrate the release of McLaren's "Swamp Thing" album. A provocative invitation from this popular club and art installation space that created various themed events that "brought together the disparate worlds of artists, fashion designers, socialites, film stars, writers, musicians, and celebrities." Upon its opening in 1983 AREA immediately became the nexus of the Downtown art and club scene of the '80s. Basquiat was a friend of the Goodes who owned the club and was a regular there who sometimes served as DJ. Fine (the card measures 5.5" x 8.5") with the original mailing envelope present (edge tear).
