Color woodblock opium den print titled: ''Un Fumerie D'Opium en France.''
Paris: Le Petit Parisien, 1907.
Terrific opium den print that takes up the entire front cover of the French newspaper Le Petit Parisien (the complete issue is included). One of the most desirable of the woodblock opium den prints that appeared in various newspapers around the turn of the century. Unlike the vast majority that were done in b&w, this one is printed in several colors, and it portrays upper class smokers in a nicely appointed den. Expected minor wear for a newspaper of this vintage (few small nicks to left edge), paper still supple, very nice overall (approx. 17" x 11.75). One of only two color opium den woodblock prints that portray upper class smokers that we've encountered. Scarce.
