Item #SKB-17119

Business card from one of the most legendary music and entertainment venues in Greenwich Village. Founded in 1959 by Manny Roth (uncle of singer David Lee Roth), the Cafe Wha? was the venue for some of Dylan's very earliest performances after he arrived in NYC (playing for free on Hootenanny night), and where, after being recommended by Richie Havens, Roth hired Jimi Hendrix at the beginning of his career, then performing as Jimmy James and the Blue Flames. During the course of the '60s virtually everybody on the Village scene gigged at the Cafe Wha? or hung out there. The card is printed with an illustration of an elephant and "Greenwich Village's BIGGEST and Swingingest Entertainment Cafe Manny Roth's Cafe Wha? 115 MacDougal St." Fine.
