Kathmandu, Nepal: Bardo Matrix, [ca. 1972].
Woodblock print made by the Bardo Matrix group utilizing a woodblock created by an unknown Bardo member. Features the head of a bird and a swastika (used here as a symbol of good luck and prosperity per Nepalese beliefs) along with a couple of other graphic elements. Provenance: the archive of Bardo Matrix member Dana Young who was the primary illustrator of the Bardo publications, and the author of "Opium Elementals" that featured his woodblock prints of opium smokers. Usual creasing to fragile rice paper, but nice (11" x 7.5").
