SF: Privately published, ca. 1960.
Single octavo sheet folded to make four pages. The Hungry i was originally located in the bohemian North Beach neighborhood of San Francisco. Founded by beatnik entrepreneur Eric "Big Daddy" Nord who was the manager of The Gas House in Venice, The Hungry i played a major role in the history of stand-up comedy in America. Lenny Bruce, Mort Sahl, Woody Allen, Dick Cavett, Joan Rivers, Bill Cosby, and Professor Irwin Corey, among many others, got their start at The Hungry i---The Kingston Trio, The Limelighters, and Tom Lehrer recorded albums there. Scarce ephemera (with a cool, abstract line drawing cover design) from one of the most notable hip venues of the era. Some foxing (mostly visible on back cover), else nice.
