NY: The Village Gate, 1966.
The card invites you to "Take a trip on LSD (equal parts Laughter, Song, Dance) in large doses as often as required." "Admission by prescription only." The card, designed to look like a prescription from the "Zafero Clinic," "must be presented at the door." For many years The Village Gate was one of the premier music and entertainment venues in the heart of Greenwich Village. In 1970 they hosted a benefit for Timothy Leary with the likes of John & Yoko, Allen Ginsberg, and Abbie Hoffman being among those invited. Trip events and Acid Tests were much more common on the West Coast---ephemera from the NYC scene, especially that explicitly states "Take a trip on LSD," and issued the same year that LSD was declared illegal, is very scarce. Near fine (5" x 4").
