Item #SKB-16484 Original rice paper woodblock print of an opium smoker and a part-human figure above him. Dana YOUNG.

Original rice paper woodblock print of an opium smoker and a part-human figure above him.

[Kathmandu, Nepal: Bardo Matrix, 1976].

Item #SKB-16484

Depicts a reclining opium smoker holding his pipe while an animalistic creature hovers over him. This print is one of an overrun made for use in Young's most important work, Opium Elementals that consists of woodblock prints devoted to opium smoking. Young was one of the original Bardo Matrix members and the primary illustrator for their publications. Inevitable creasing to thin rice paper, else nice overall (image ca. 6" x 5" on much larger sheet).
