The Great Hippie Hoax: A Scalding Indictment of the Phoney Movement That Has Trapped Thousands of Teenagers.

NY/London: Award Books/Tandem Books, [1968].

Item #SKB-15714

Magazine-format publication devoted to "stripping the petals off the Flower Children" revealing "them to be floundering in a cesspool of sex, half-crazed with weird drugs, parasitic, selfish, diseased..." Sensational, scathing attack on the hippie subculture with articles and first-person accounts of "orgiastic parties" and "sexual perversions that appear to dominate the entire movement." Includes discussions of crime, venereal disease, life in hippie tenement pads, and how the Hell's Angels "beat the hippies senseless whenever they want to and use the girl hippies as so many chattels." Profusely illustrated with photographs of hippies in the Haight-Ashbury "by the photographer who lived among the hippies." Nice layout with color covers showing photos of scantilly-clad, pot smoking hippies amidst buttons reproducing hippie slogans. Laughably virulent anti-hippie tract, the best we've seen or could imagine. Touch of rust to staples, else very near fine. Scarce.
